What is KPR?

Canadian-rooted safety footwear, organized around real work.

KPR is a safety-footwear brand with Canadian roots dating to 1968.

KPR develops work boots and work shoes for demanding environments and serves individual buyers, employers, distributors and workforce purchasing programs.

Canada's varied climate, landscapes and industries shaped a practical point of view: start with the job, build for repeated wear and verify protection against the exact model.

A working history

More than five decades of safety-footwear development.

KPR's regional official histories trace a Canadian beginning in 1968 and a growing manufacturing network. These milestones describe the brand's development; certification still belongs to the exact model and market.

  1. A safety-footwear purpose begins.

Canadian shoemaker K.P. Yao establishes KPR after seeing the consequences of workplace slips, falls and foot-crush incidents.

  2. Safety-footwear expertise expands in Asia.

KPR extends its manufacturing presence across the Philippines, Taiwan and China.

  3. In-house testing capability.

KPR establishes a testing laboratory to evaluate footwear against applicable international safety standards.

  4. Project S.A.F.E. launches.

The brand formalizes slip resistance, airlike lightness, fire and heat resistance, and electrical protection as a product-development framework.

  5. Automation and regional growth.

Production and information systems support greater vertical integration as KPR expands operations across Southeast Asia.

  6. The manufacturing footprint grows.

KPR's regional history records a Toronto factory and an additional facility in Indonesia.

  7. A recycled-PU collaboration.

BASF announces a KPR King Power safety-footwear line using Elastopan Loop recycled polyurethane. This material statement applies to that collaboration—not every KPR model.

The KPR SAFE framework

Four design priorities. One model-specific decision.

KPR's official SAFE framework expresses four priorities across the range. It is a decision guide, not a claim that every model carries every protection property.

KPR slip-resistance symbol S / SLIP-RESISTANCE

Traction for the surface.

Outsole grip is a core design priority. Confirm slip- and oil-resistance information on the exact product.

KPR airlike-lightness symbol A / AIRLIKE LIGHTNESS

Less unnecessary bulk.

Weight and material choices can support long shifts, while the construction and final weight still vary by model.

KPR fire and heat-resistance symbol F / FIRE & HEAT

Match heat properties to the job.

Heat-related outsole or material properties apply only where they are documented for the exact model.

KPR electrical-protection symbol E / ELECTRICAL

Use the required designation.

EH, SD, ESD and ESR are different concepts. Match the workplace requirement to the completed model marking.

Footwear anatomy

Protection is specified—not assumed.

These protection categories appear within the KPR range. Availability, marking, materials and test claims must always be confirmed on the product being considered.

How is KPR footwear made?

DESMA direct injection in every pair.

Every KPR footwear model uses DESMA direct-injection manufacturing. During molding, the sole system is formed directly to the prepared upper, creating the upper-to-sole connection without a conventional cemented sole attachment.

Exact upper, midsole and outsole materials remain specific to each model, as do protection properties and regional markings.

  1. 01
    Start with the work

Identify the environment, surface, hazard and applicable jurisdiction.

  2. 02
    Compare the construction

Review toe type, underfoot protection, outsole, upper, water and electrical fields.

  3. 03
    Verify the exact model

Use the completed marking and model documentation before purchase or approval.

How KPR manages consistency

Technology, shoemaking expertise and evidence.

Canadian-rooted. Globally operated. Regionally verified.

KPR's regional official material describes automated production and information systems, near-total vertical integration of critical manufacturing components, and testing in a certified in-house laboratory.

01

Automated systems

Production and information systems support repeatable processes, planning and output.

02

Human expertise

Technology is paired with more than five decades of shoemaking knowledge and craftsmanship.

03

Integrated components

Control of critical manufacturing components helps KPR manage consistency across production.

04

In-house testing

Footwear is evaluated against applicable international standards before regional and model-specific claims are made.

What this means for buyers: brand capability does not replace product evidence. Always confirm the exact model's materials, test marking, certification, fit and intended market.

Why KPR exists

Make safety footwear easier to choose, easier to understand and easier to verify.

KPR brings product, protection knowledge and workforce planning into one decision path—without turning a feature on one model into a promise for every model.
